Don’t miss my commentary on Obama’s visit to Cuba

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Obama’s visit to Cuba has turned out to be a diplomatic disaster. As POTUS he was not greeted at the airport by Raúl Castro– and has been treated with a veiled disdain by the Communist government of Cuba– which doesn’t miss a chance of letting Obama know that it hates America.

YOUR POSITION ON CUBA IS WRONG: Letter to Donald J. Trump from Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Dear Mr. Trump:

My name is Marielena Montesino de Stuart. In 2012 I ran for the United States Senate in Florida (Republican, on the ballot). I am a proud American citizen who came to this country as a political refugee from Cuba, after having suffered horrific persecution under Fidel Castro’s Communist dictatorship. I grew up visiting political prisons in Cuba, where my father and my uncle were held. My uncle became one of the longest held political prisoners in the Western Hemisphere. Other members of my family were tortured, imprisoned and executed. The story of the decimation of my family by Castro’s forces represents the murderous legacy of Fidel Castro– imposed on millions of Cubans for more than 57 years.

Last night during the GOP Debate, you spoke about a “better deal” with Cuba that would allay your concerns over reparation lawsuits being filed against the U.S. by the Communists in Havana. You never mentioned any concern for the freedom of the Cuban people– which is the ONLY legitimate path to fair commerce between Cuba and the United States. Mr.Trump, allow me to point out that the Cuban exiled community, a powerful American voting block, is not concerned, nor fears, farcical reparation lawsuits against the U.S. from the thugs in Havana. We want freedom for the people of Cuba. You cannot “Make America Great Again” if you are willing to do a “better deal” with the Devil next door.

My family and I were exiled in the United States by choice. We never felt there was a better antidote to Communism than the principles of freedom that America stands for. This is in stark contrast with other Cuban exiles who preferred to remain among Eurosocialists and parade down the halls of the United Nations, because they saw the Eurosocialist model as a better alternative to what America had to offer. Most of these former Eurosocialist Cubans had been supporters of Fidel Castro’s revolution and are also responsible for the blood spilled on Cuban soil. Many eventually made their way to America, but only because Eurosocialism hit their pocketbooks hard. They now mostly live in Miami. I am NOT one of them.

It appears that you are on your way to becoming the presidential nominee for the Republican Party. I have observed your triumphant path carefully, and I congratulate you for your courage and perseverance in opposing the corrupt individuals involved in the Republican establishment who are trying to destroy your campaign. I experienced a similar situation when I ran for the U.S. Senate in Florida.

I have also carefully studied your opponents, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. As elected public officials I do not consider their record, their character nor some of their major donors, to be trustworthy, in terms of what is best for America or Cuba. Moreover, the fact that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are sons of Cuban immigrants who supported Fidel Castro’s “revolution” (NOT political refugees from Communist Cuba) appears to have blurred their vision, since during their time as U.S. Senators they both have honored Nelson Mandela, a well known Communist terrorist, who was also a close friend of Fidel Castro. With this reality in mind, I do not trust any promises or overtures that Cruz and Rubio make to the Cuban diaspora in the United States. For years I have witnessed Cuban-American politicians who take advantage of the trust and suffering of the Cuban exiled community, with empty rhetoric.

To be fair, I have noted that as a private citizen you once had words of admiration for Nelson Mandela– but I can only imagine that this is the result of your lack of understanding of his Communist terrorist activities. Let’s face it, it is not necessary to honor Nelson Mandela, in order to rightfully speak out against the former Apartheid government of South Africa.

The fact that you are self-funding your campaign is extremely important, in order to keep special interest away, and focus on what this country desperately needs, if it is to become once again a moral and economic leader in the world. Furthermore, the fact that such an overwhelming number of Americans have turned out to support your slogan of “Make America Great Again”– speaks to the desperate state that this country is in. It’s called Socialism– which is rising in the shadows of the Eurosocialism that has brought Europe back to an Islamization not seen since the defeat of Muslims at the Gates of Vienna.

As such, you must not ignore the fact that the Communist government of Cuba has not only pursued an aggressive internationalist approach for the spread of Communism, but has been actively engaged as a state sponsor of terrorism, along with Iran, Sudan and Syria, even though  Obama recently removed Cuba from this list, for the sake of “diplomacy.”

Cuba’s involvement as a state sponsor of terrorism has been evident for several decades.

During the Yom Kippur War (aka the 1973 Arab-Israeli War) Fidel Castro’s government sent 4,000 troops to prevent Israeli forces from entering Syrian territory— while Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Prime Minister of Israel, was leading a commando team deep in the Syrian territory.

On another front, during Operation Entebbe in July 1976, commandos of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a high-risk operation at Entebbe Airport in Uganda, in order to rescue over 100 Israeli citizens and Jewish passengers of various nationalities who were being held hostage at Entebbe Airport by hijackers of an Air France plane. These terrorists had received training in South Yemen at camps supported and staffed with 1,500 Soviets, 700 Cubans and 116 East Germans.

When the terrorists took control of the Air France plane, they announced that they were under the leadership of none other than the “Che Guevara Group and Gaza Unit of the Popular Front of the Liberation of Palestine.” I’m sure you know that Che Guevara was one of Fidel Castro’s closest henchmen, responsible for the execution of thousands of innocent Cubans.  Che Guevara’s long trail of blood has earned him the reputation as one of the most vicious and ruthless Communists in history.

As you can see, Cuba’s Marxist-terrorist influence reaches far across the globe.

Today, the Communist government of Cuba remains the dagger in the heart of the Western Hemisphere, with powerful tentacles that advance their nefarious agenda through socialist nation-building (as in Venezuela) and through the agenda of the São Paulo Forum, whose sole purpose is to destroy America. Please do not ignore this important fact.

Indeed, Cuba’s Communist government represents a sociopolitical threat to the United States of America. Cuba’s government is only interested in “deals” that benefit their murderous Communist dictatorship– and the international advancement of their interests. Cuban government officials made this very clear, even before the American flag was raised during the reopening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana. The belligerence of the Cuban government against any sign of democracy or freedom for the Cuban people remains intact.

Cuba is also a threat to the United States, in terms of immigration, specifically through the flood of Cubans pouring in through the border with Mexico. This should concern you, since the issue of immigration is, after all, what catapulted your campaign into success. These new Cuban arrivals see Barack Obama’s deal with Cuba as a chokehold on their freedom, because Obama’s “diplomacy” represents a cowardly legitimization of the Communist dictatorship of Cuba, after 57 years of oppression. The numbers of Cubans fleeing the island since Obama’s one-way diplomacy was enacted has increased exponentially, and the oppression and persecution of the Cuban people under their Communist dictatorship is the same, or worse.

Mr. Trump, you are a very successful businessman, and your life is centered on making “deals.” You have said that “deals are people.” If you are to remain consistent, I am asking that you reconsider your position on Cuba. Any “deal” that you do with the Communists in Havana will affect the people of Cuba. Consequently, I was particularly disheartened by your perfunctory statement last night during the GOP Debate held at the University of Miami: “… fifty years is enough time, folks–referring to U.S. laws that have been in place to exert (at least) minimal pressure on the Communist government of Cuba. Your statement was not just offensive to those of us who suffered under Communism in Cuba– but it shows that you need help in understanding that there’s no “better deal” to be made with the Communists in Havana.

Furthermore, consider this scenario: would you say to survivors of the Jewish Holocaust that “Seventy one years is enough time, folks”? No, you would not– because such a statement would be inconsiderate and disrespectful. We, the survivors of Cuba’s murderous Communist regime, who have been loyal to America, deserve the same respect and consideration.

Based on the above scenario, and knowing that your forte is the issue of trade and “deals,” I respectfully propose that in your effort to do away with, or rewrite the trade deals that are choking the American economy, that you include a clause which will severely punish those so-called “friends” of the U.S. who continue to trade and do business with the Communist government of Cuba. Now, that’s a deal that will effectively work to help bring freedom to the Cuban people, through an economic stranglehold on the thugs in Havana– just like it was done in South Africa against the Apartheid government. This will quickly end the suffering of the Cuban people and will bring the freedom needed for the establishment of legitimate diplomacy and trade. You can become the man who brings down the Communist government of Cuba, without shooting a single bullet. What a legacy! If you’re willing to take on China in trade, it should be easy for you to take on Cuba and its trading partners.

Dr. Ben Carson, who endorsed you this morning, said that you are not intolerant to change. I believe that this is true and that if you surround yourself with virtuous people who can guide you in critical matters, such as Cuba, you can become a successful leader.

We all know that you have evolved through the years on several areas, including abortion– and that you are open to the process of evolving further, based on the goodness in you to do what is moral and just in defense of the innocent. You recently said that there’s no sense in keeping a position that is wrong. This supports your famous quote: “Watch, listen, and learn. You can’t know it all yourself. Anyone who thinks they do is destined for mediocrity.”

I respectfully ask that you carefully consider the above facts, and that you urgently present a strong, sincere and trustworthy position against Cuba’s Communist government, before the Florida Primary on Tuesday, March 15.

I remain sincerely,

Marielena Montesino de Stuart

The GOP Debate in Detroit: Not a word about Abortion

Another long debate with so much acting-out and little or no substance. Another show for network ratings and profits– and not a word about the defense of innocent human life. A nation that elects a leader who does not place the defense of innocent and defenseless human life above all– is a nation which has sold its future to materialistic atheism.

Censored in China

you_doodle_2016-02-29t01_43_11z

He had grown accustomed to the perks that come with being a powerful property tycoon who plays according to the Communist Party rules– that is until his fingers got too happy on the keyboard.

Ren Zhiqiang had over 30 million followers on his microblogging account. But everything came to a screeching halt when he criticized Xi Jinping, the President of Communist China. Mr. Ren asked for state media to serve the people of China- who, after all, are the ones who pay for it. Beijing’s government immediately took action to censor and shut down his account and issued statements accusing Mr. Ren of subversive activities against the government.

The BBC reports:

The Cyberspace Administration of China accused Mr. Ren of publishing “illegal messages that had a bad impact.”

As a Communist dictatorship, China maintains very strict Internet regulations– which include blocking major websites and censorship of posts by audacious bloggers. China’s censorship program is massive– given the fact that China represents the largest online population in the world.

China has issued new rules, which will take effect on March 10, banning foreign media and foreign joint ventures from posting content online without the blessing of Communist Party officials. The BBC’s English language website has been blocked in the past across China. On October 15, 2014, BBC Global News director, Peter Horrocks said it appeared to be “deliberate censorship,” on a BBC article titled “BBC’s website is being blocked across China.”

With this scenario in mind, I am not surprised that BBC’s China Editor, Carrie Gracie, is currently taking “long service leave” from China until the summer, and has returned to the U.K. Here’s an excerpt that appeared in The Guardian (28 February, 2016, titled: BBC’s Carrie Gracie: ‘China is difficult– a giant piece of history rising’)

China’s political situation worries her greatly. “The level of oppression, Orwellian security is very serious,” she says. “I feel perhaps I need to ratchet up the coverage over some of the sombre truths.

Last summer, some Hong Kong booksellers disappeared– and journalists are under constant threat. Lawyers are being imprisoned (but I must admit that the idea of trying to practice “law” under a Communist dictatorship is baffling!).

Xi Jinping is turning out to be Mao in a suit and tie. His reign of terror is driving underground just about anyone who opposes him. Or they leave China, before it’s too late.

Obama’s failures in Iraq keep mounting

More death and destruction took place today in Baghdad. The New York Times has issued the following report– which confirms Obama’s failure in that region:

BAGHDAD — Militants attacked an outdoor market on Sunday in eastern Baghdad, killing at least 59 people and wounding nearly 100, officials said.

A bomb ripped through the crowded Mredi market in the Shiite district of Sadr City, a police officer said. Minutes later, a suicide bomber blew himself up amid the crowd that had gathered at the site of the first bombing, he added.

Interior Ministry spokesman Sad Main said the bombings killed 38 people and wounded another 62.

Multiple hospital officials later increased the casualty toll to 59 dead and 95 wounded. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.

The attack was the deadliest in a wave of recent explosions that have targeted commercial areas in and outside Baghdad.

Obama’s approach of leading from behind has failed. The military experts that he sent to the area a few months ago do not appear to have the situation under control– and the ISIS bloody footprint in Baghdad, as the capital of Iraq, will be very difficult to remove. The new POTUS in 2017 will have to do a major overhaul of our Middle East policy.

Cuba matters

As someone who suffered under the bloody Communist dictatorship of Fidel Castro, I am deeply concerned about the lack of interest in discussing the plight of the Cuban people  during the Republican presidential debates. There has also been little or no discussion of Obama’s one-way diplomacy with Cuba. This silence about Cuba, on the part of the candidates, extends to their time on the campaign trail. Two of the candidates for POTUS, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, are sons of Cuban immigrants. What’s going on?

KEEP GITMO: Communism and Terrorism go Hand in Hand

The Guantanamo prison should continue to house terrorists– as long as Cuba is controlled by Communists. After all, Communist Cuba has been a state sponsor of terrorism. Gitmo is simply one prison inside another.

Some brief remarks on today’s announcement about the Guantanamo prison.

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

KEEP GITMO - Communism and Terrorism go Hand in Hand - Copyright Marielena Montesino de Stuart. All rights reserved.

Today Barack Obama offered a plan to close the Guantanamo prison, which is something he promised to do during his first campaign in 2008.

Obama claims that the prison in Guantanamo “does not help our national security”, but undermines it,”—and considers Gitmo “contrary to our values.” Obama also said that the Guantanamo prison serves as propaganda for terrorists to advance their cause.

He can’t be serious.

What is contrary to our values are the violent acts committed by the terrorists who we have fed and housed in Guantanamo. Transferring these terrorists to other locations is exactly what would put us at risk. As far as propaganda is concerned, terrorists will resort to anything in order to advance their cause. Closing Gitmo is not going to deter them from spreading their evil message.

I see the Castro brothers and the new “diplomacy” with Cuba written all over this.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Pentagon announced that the Obama administration intends to meet the deadline, which ends today, by presenting a pathway to closing through the transfer of the 91 terrorists currently imprisoned. This would involve moving some prisoners to third countries—and the remaining number would be brought to U.S. territory. Good luck with that. Congress prohibits the transfer of these thugs to U.S. territory, since there are prohibition in our funding bills that prevent the Obama administration from transferring detainees.

The Congressional Research Service explains this further:

“Several appropriations and authorization measures enacted by Congress have barred funds from being used to effectuate the release of Guantanamo detainees into the United States. Moreover, Congress has enacted several measures barring funds from being used to transfer detainees into the United States or its territories or possessions.”

“The closure of the Guantanamo detention facility would raise a number of legal issues with respect to the individuals formerly interned there, particularly if those detainees are transferred to the United States. The nature and scope of constitutional protections owed to detainees within the United States may be different from the protections owed to aliens held abroad. The transfer of detainees to the United States may also have immigration consequences.”

This wanderlust on the part of Obama to have these dangerous criminals traveling as transferees to other parts of the world is reckless delusion— since movement of these prisoners to other countries or to the United States is considered a threat to our national security.

In the scheme of “all things Obama”– it appears that this desire to close the Guantanamo prison is also a goodwill overture towards the Castro brothers—prior to his upcoming visit to Cuba, the Communist island prison.

Communism and terrorism go hand in hand. KEEP GITMO.

THE 2016 RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE: Are Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio the “New Conservatives”?

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

THE 2016 RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE- Are Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio the %22New Conservatives%22? Copyright © Marielena Montesino de Stuart. All rights reserved.

Let’s examine this new breed of “conservatives” running for POTUS.

The following is an important excerpt from an article I published on December 10, 2013. It should be of great interest to my readers as they ponder the 2016 U.S. presidential election:

The New World Order that we live under—famously lauded by Republican U.S. President, George Herbert Walker Bush, has indeed grown deep roots in the minds of people all over the world. So much so, that religious leaders, politicians and monarchs who claim to care for the plight of the poor, have either issued statements (as in the Vatican’s statement issued by Francis) or have arrived in Johannesburg for Nelson Mandela’s memorial service, claiming to honor Mandela—a man who shamelessly admired Fidel Castro’s brutal Communist dictatorship, clearly stated as follows:

“From its earliest days, the Cuban Revolution has also been a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people. We admire the sacrifices of the Cuban people in maintaining their independence and sovereignty in the face of the vicious imperialist-orchestrated campaign to destroy the impressive gain made in the Cuban Revolution… Long live the Cuban Revolution. Long live comrade Fidel Castro.”—Nelson Mandela, July 26, 1991, Cuba

Nelson Mandela and Fidel Castro
Nelson Mandela and Fidel Castro

Another participant in the Mandela memorial service, who shocked many (except for me) was none other than U.S. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas, who issued the following statement, before traveling to Johannesburg:

“Nelson Mandela will live in history as an inspiration for defenders of liberty around the globe. He stood firm for decades on the principle that until all South Africans enjoyed equal liberties he would not leave prison himself, declaring in his autobiography, ‘Freedom is indivisible; the chains on any one of my people were the chains on all of them, the chains on all of my people were the chains on me.’ Because of his epic fight against injustice, an entire nation is now free.

“We mourn his loss and offer our condolences to his family and the people of South Africa.” — U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (Republican-Texas) – December 5, 2013

Ted Cruz has chosen to ignore Mandela’s admitted terrorist past as a Communist.  Cruz has also chosen to ignore the fact that Mandela institutionalized unfettered abortion in South Africa– and that he single-handedly turned South Africa into a nation with some the most liberal laws on earth.

Join Marielena Montesino de Stuart’s Special List of Readers

Based on Cruz’ public statement of admiration for Mandela and his decision to participate in the Mandela memorial event, is it possible that Senator Ted Cruz still harbors admiration for his own father’s participation as a pro-Castro revolutionary activist?  “’He was a guerilla, throwing Molotov cocktails and blowing up buildings,‘ Ted Cruz told the Austin American-Statesman [about his father] for a profile published in January 2006,” according to The Dallas Morning News (October 25, 2011).

How else are we to explain Ted Cruz’ statement honoring Mandela– and his subsequent pilgrimage to South Africa to be at the memorial?

This two-sided political approach is very common in the Cuban exiled community and among those of Cuban descent, who often view their parents’ former socialist pro-Castro activism with starry-eyed idealism, while they also denounce Castro. This inconsistent political behavior is precisely what has divided the Cuban exiled community for more than 50 years.

As I said above, Ted Cruz’ participation in Nelson Mandela’s memorial and his written statement did not take me by surprise. Ted Cruz wants to have it both ways, but principled conservatives do not behave this way.

In what appears to be an obvious attempt to defuse the criticisms he has been receiving, Ted Cruz “walked out” when Raúl Castro was delivering his speech at the Mandela memorial. Too little, too late.

Another admirer of Nelson Mandela is U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, also of Cuban descent. Marco Rubio’s ambiguous account of his family’s return to Cuba afterCastro’s takeover in January 1959, continues to raise questions and eyebrows– considering that the executions of hundreds of innocent Cubans began immediately in 1959, in the fortress of La Cabaña. In addition, it was well known that hundreds of innocent farmers and civilians had been executed throughout the island by Castro and his band of Marxist thugs during their terrorist “revolution.” By 1960 all American businesses in Cuba had been nationalized without compensation– and the United States had broken off diplomatic relations with Havana.

Given these conditions, why did Marco Rubio’s parents leave the United States and return to Cuba to live under Castro?

Although Senator Marco Rubio did not travel to Johannesburg for Mandela’s memorial, his admiration for Nelson Mandela shows that Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Ted Cruz suffer from the same malady of political inconsistency. Much has changed with Rubio since he ran for the U.S. Senate.  Here is Marco Rubio’s statement paying homage to Mandela:

“The world has lost one of history’s most important figures, though Nelson Mandela’s example will live on for generations to come. Men and women striving for justice and fairness around the world have drawn inspiration from Nelson Mandela, and he showed South Africans and the entire world what the power of forgiveness truly means and can accomplish. My wife Jeanette and I send our condolences to the Mandela family and to the people of South Africa.” — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (Republican-Florida) December 5, 2013.

Nelson Mandela and Communism

Nelson Mandela was not a political prisoner. He was imprisoned for espousing violent activities through the Umkhonto we Sizwe (abbreviated MK)– a terrorist organization which he co-founded, as the “armed” wing of the African National Congress (ANC).

During his trial Nelson Mandela pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence, which included organizing terrorist bombing campaigns. Scores of innocent people, both black and white, were killed by Nelson Mandela’s Umkhonto we Sizwe terrorists, including women and children. In any other country Nelson Mandela would have been sentenced to death, or would have spent life in prison. Yet, he enjoyed communication privileges unheard of, for a prisoner with such a criminal record.

As such, even Amnesty International, which is well known for its progressive side, would not take on Mandela’s case, since he was not a political prisoner (“prisoner of conscience”). In addition, pursuant to Amnesty International’s criterion, a “prisoner of conscience” must not have used nor advocated violence.

As cruel and abominable as apartheid was, Mandela’s legacy of terrorist violence and support of murderous Communist dictatorships cannot be justified

By the time Mandela came out of prison and became President of South Africa he had given up on the idea of full-blown communism, given that he would not receive aid from the Soviet Union, which had recently collapsed.

Cuba’s communism, which Mandela so admired, was his scariest example of a communist country starving after its long dependence on the Soviet Union.  However, the communists from the former Communist bloc resurfaced through Sustainable Development (Agenda 21)– which is the United Nations socialist global initiative.  The operatives of Agenda 21 have worked tirelessly in Africa to advance socialism– in ways that the Soviet Union could not achieve.  Socialist politicians all over the world, including Mandela, have advanced their causes with the help of Sustainable Development, much more than they ever could with the help of the Soviets.

While Nelson Mandela praised Fidel Castro’s Communist dictatorship, the Strait of Florida had already become a cemetery for untold hundreds of thousands of Cubans who had drowned trying to escape.  This does not include the untold number executed by Castro’s government forces.  After nearly 55 years of Castro’s Communist dictatorship, the human loss has become one of the worst catastrophes recorded in modern history.  But New World Order religious leaders, politicians and monarchs do not feel it is in their best interest to demand that the Communist dagger be removed from the heart of the Cuban people…
