HYPOCRISY ON STEROIDS: Waterboarding, Terror, Abortions– and the GOP ‘Twosome from Hell’

Thank you for your enthusiastic support of this popular commentary. Please continue to SHARE it… because the truth is contagious!

GOP ESTABLISHMENT HYPOCRISY - Copyright © Marielena Montesino de Stuart. All rights reserved.I am against all violence inflicted upon innocent human beings. As such, I find it extremely hypocritical when public officials and others show indignation about the practice of waterboarding terrorists during interrogation sessions– yet, they do not object to the inhumane treatment and terror inflicted on an innocent and helpless baby during an abortion procedure.

Two of these hypocrites reside inside the Republican Party– and they are Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney– whom Lou Dobbs referred to as “the twosome from Hell” on his March 3 commentary:

On Thursday, Romney unleashed an attack against Donald Trump– the leading candidate in the Republican race for the White House– and had the nerve to say that Trump would be guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors” if he ordered that terrorists undergo waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques. Interestingly, here’s an excerpt from a Reuter’s report regarding Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign (with Paul Ryan as his VP) and the subject of waterboarding, as well as “enhanced interrogation techniques” (“Would Romney bring back torture?” by Daphne Eviatar, October 15, 2012):

Yet Romney’s foreign policy advisers have written a private memo  recommending that the U.S. resume “enhanced interrogation techniques,” according to The New York Times. What these GOP advisers are saying is the U.S. should return to what former Vice President Dick Cheney called “the dark side” — using torture to interrogate suspected terrorists.

Cheney still defends his support of techniques such as  waterboarding, painful stress positions, extreme sleep deprivation, slamming detainees into a wall, sexual humiliation and mortal threats. So does his daughter, Liz Cheney — now a Romney adviser.

The Romney memo recommends that, if he wins, he should explicitly authorize use of “enhanced interrogation techniques,” which the Army Field Manual does not permit.

The Romney advisers’ memo doesn’t even present that strong a case for this policy.  “It is difficult to argue conclusively,” the memo states, “that enhanced interrogation techniques would have generated more information than the techniques in the Army Field Manual.”

The corrupt and hypocritical GOP establishment operatives are out in force. True conservative Americans must stop them at the ballot box.

KEEP GITMO: Communism and Terrorism go Hand in Hand

The Guantanamo prison should continue to house terrorists– as long as Cuba is controlled by Communists. After all, Communist Cuba has been a state sponsor of terrorism. Gitmo is simply one prison inside another.

Some brief remarks on today’s announcement about the Guantanamo prison.

Today Barack Obama offered a plan to close the Guantanamo prison, which is something he promised to do during his first campaign in 2008.

Obama claims that the prison in Guantanamo “does not help our national security”, but undermines it,”—and considers Gitmo “contrary to our values.” Obama also said that the Guantanamo prison serves as propaganda for terrorists to advance their cause.

He can’t be serious.

What is contrary to our values are the violent acts committed by the terrorists who we have fed and housed in Guantanamo. Transferring these terrorists to other locations is exactly what would put us at risk. As far as propaganda is concerned, terrorists will resort to anything in order to advance their cause. Closing Gitmo is not going to deter them from spreading their evil message.

I see the Castro brothers and the new “diplomacy” with Cuba written all over this.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Pentagon announced that the Obama administration intends to meet the deadline, which ends today, by presenting a pathway to closing through the transfer of the 91 terrorists currently imprisoned. This would involve moving some prisoners to third countries—and the remaining number would be brought to U.S. territory. Good luck with that. Congress prohibits the transfer of these thugs to U.S. territory, since there are prohibition in our funding bills that prevent the Obama administration from transferring detainees.

The Congressional Research Service explains this further:

“Several appropriations and authorization measures enacted by Congress have barred funds from being used to effectuate the release of Guantanamo detainees into the United States. Moreover, Congress has enacted several measures barring funds from being used to transfer detainees into the United States or its territories or possessions.”

“The closure of the Guantanamo detention facility would raise a number of legal issues with respect to the individuals formerly interned there, particularly if those detainees are transferred to the United States. The nature and scope of constitutional protections owed to detainees within the United States may be different from the protections owed to aliens held abroad. The transfer of detainees to the United States may also have immigration consequences.”

This wanderlust on the part of Obama to have these dangerous criminals traveling as transferees to other parts of the world is reckless delusion— since movement of these prisoners to other countries or to the United States is considered a threat to our national security.

In the scheme of “all things Obama”– it appears that this desire to close the Guantanamo prison is also a goodwill overture towards the Castro brothers—prior to his upcoming visit to Cuba, the Communist island prison.

Communism and terrorism go hand in hand. KEEP GITMO.

Why are the Boko Haram terrorist attacks in Nigeria underreported?

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Map of Nigeria - United Nations
One expects that the mainstream media would show basic human concern and give the same degree of attention to terrorist attacks, regardless of where they take place. This does not appear to be the case.

During the last two days there have been terrorist attacks carried out by Boko Haram in #Nigeria, which have brought the death toll to over 80. Most of the victims are women and children– but this massacre does not appear to be newsworthy, given the anemic coverage that it is receiving– compared to the intense round-the-clock news coverage of the attacks in #Paris and San Bernardino.

Here’s a New York Daily News report (excerpt). Bold added for emphasis:

“A nurse at Maiduguri Specialist Hospital said dozens of critically wounded, mainly children and women, may not survive. The nurse, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she is not authorized to speak to reporters, said the hospital was so overflowing with patients that some had to be cared for in the maternity ward. About 60 people had wounds from bullets and shrapnel from explosive devices, she said. Other wounded people had to be sent to other hospitals in the city.

Among them was a baby found dead, still tied to the back of her mother, who survived after being hit by shrapnel, the nurse said.

It was hard to do a body count because so many had been blown into pieces, she said, describing torsos and dismembered arms and legs.”

While the world mourned the deaths in Paris, approximately 2,000 people died in Nigeria as victims of Boko Haram #terrorism. In spite of the enormity of the Nigerian massacre, it was underreported compared to Paris.

I understand that the territory controlled by Boko Haram is dangerous for journalists– and innocent local citizens have limited access to the internet. However, information is coming out with enough details to provide coverage, albeit with limited visuals. But of course, visuals are everything in today’s news business, which is more worried about ratings and the bottom line.

There is also doubt about the degree of transparency and assessment from the Nigerian government regarding these attacks, which followed last week’s statement by the very socialist Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, that his government had “technically won the war” against Boko Haram. This scenario makes the Boko Haram Islamic extremist threat in Nigeria even more critical and newsworthy– for the sake of Nigerians, their surrounding countries–and the world!

Political correctness is not truth

Political correctness is not truth. Political correctness is a selfish feel-good malady.

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Espresso with Marielena… (quick reflections while I sip my cup of coffee)

ESPRESSO WITH MARIELENA... Copyright © Marielena Montesino de Stuart. All rights reserved.Don’t forget that socialists (so-called “progressives”) lead the charge for political correctness when it comes to how humanity is supposed to react to the violence perpetrated by Islamic extremists.

Examine closely the Islamization of Europe and who are the politicians behind it.

Also, examine closely who has (for decades!) aided and supported states sponsors of terrorism, like Cuba– which until Obama’s recent “diplomacy” was listed as a state sponsor of terrorism by the State Dept., in Washington DC. Specifically, the State Department determined that Cuba had “repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism”– along with Iran, Syria and Sudan.

Must read… EVIL BEGETS EVIL: Terrorism seen through the eyes of a Cuban

It is also critical that we remain aware of fake conservatives, who suffer from this political-correctness malady. Authentic conservatives who truly love their fellow man DO NOT practice political correctness.

As Christians, we are called to love– but this does not mean that we must succumb to social myopia, which blurs our sacred obligation to help innocent members of society.

Help your fellow man, by not giving in to political correctness. The most powerful weapon against evil is the truth– when it is spoken with decency, dignity and facts!

It’s time to lift the fog… someone has to say the truth.
